My wife Debby and I met in college at Florida State University, raised our five children in South Florida and moved to the small Town of Oakland, Florida in 2000 to help get the Central Florida J&J initiative off and running. We love living in Johns Cove, which was J&J's first local development, where former customers have now become our neighbors and good friends. Jerry Miller, my business partner for over 25 years, is a UF graduate and that makes for some interesting Saturdays each fall. Despite our college team differences, we both share the same pride filled passion when it comes to working directly with our customers designing and building their dream homes. J&J has provided me with the unique opportunity to work with lifelong friends and family, in a job I simply enjoy doing. It doesn't get much better than that.
I lived in South Florida for most of my life and graduated from the University of Florida in 1974 with a degree in Building Construction. My father was in the construction business so I've been on a construction site my entire life. This has always been a business about family to me, first with my father, then my brother-in-law, Jim and now my grown children. My son and daughter are both working toward getting their contractor licenses. The prospect of leaving this type of legacy is very gratifying to me. What separates J&J in my mind is our personal touch and willingness to customize every plan to meet the needs of individual customers in all price ranges. Jim will tell you that our customers are now some of our best friends and I think that says a lot about who we are.
